Head Coach: Kirk Thompson
kthompson239@gmail.comCoach Thompson will be in his first year leading the Rochester JM boys basketball program.
He comes to Rochester after coaching Plainview-Elgin-Millville to their first State Boys AA Basketball title in 2012. He has an over-all record of 318-163 and was 138-29 in six years as PEM head basketball coach. He coached at Plainview for 10 years where his record was 149-104, 98-47 over the final 4 years. He also was a head coach at Comfrey, MN and Spring Grove, MN. Prior to that he had also coached at Winona, Lewiston-Altura, and Gilmanton, WI.
He has guided 5 different teams to the State AA Tournament. The PEM teams finished 3rd in State in both 2009 & 2010.

Coach Thompson was born and raised in Winona. He is a graduate of Winona Senior High School and Winona State University (master’s from WSU as well). His best sport was not basketball, but golf. He was a Division II All-American golfer and Academic All-American as well.
He coached golf for 16 years at Plainview (and PEM). He also enjoys officiating football in the fall as he starts his 11 season as a varsity football official. He is currently a math teacher.
